Would you like to help local government explore and develop current policy?
We are looking for additional associates to write occasional briefings on a range of issues relevant to local government. Associates should generally have a good understanding of local government and will need to have excellent writing skills.
LGiU is an award winning think-tank, a membership charity run by councils for councils. Our mission is to strengthen local democracy to put citizens in control of their own lives, communities and local services. We work with local councils across the political spectrum and other public services providers, along with a wider network of other organisations. Our LGiU Scotland service was officially launched in February 2016. Over two thirds of Scottish local authorities are now members, as well as a wide range of other public and voluntary sector organisations.
We produce over 100 briefings a year for our Scottish members, written by LGiU staff and associates.
Associates work for us on a freelance basis and are not employees of the LGiU.
Please send a CV and covering letter to firstname.lastname@example.org explaining:
- Which policy areas you could cover
- Your experience of working in or with local government and/or central government
We will expect applicants to submit a short written exercise before we decide whom to take on as new associates.
We are particularly looking for writers to cover the following topics:
- Social justice
- Poverty and deprivation
- Health and social care integration
…but would also welcome responses from those looking to write on other topics.
If you have any questions please email email@example.com. We will be happy to provide some sample briefings and further information about the rates paid for briefings on request.
